Meet the artist:
Janelle

Janelle Martin is a Chicago-based creative and the founder of Orijan Studio, a multidisciplinary practice rooted in transformation, storytelling, and care.
Her work spans upcycled clothing design, mixed-media art, and photography—each piece shaped by a belief that nothing is without value.
Through Orijan’s, she reimagines garments and materials that have been overlooked or discarded, turning them into wearable stories.
Through The Sacred Chaos, she explores visual art as a way to engage memory, tension, and the beauty found within imperfection.
Janelle’s approach is deeply influenced by her background in social work, grounding her creative practice in community, accessibility, and intentional care. Whether she’s mending a garment, reconstructing a piece of clothing, or stitching into a photograph, her work is rooted in the idea that creation can be restorative—not just for materials, but for people.
At its core, her practice is about connection: to where things come from, to what they can become, and to the stories we carry with us.
